Title: Rear break cable/cables
Post by Costanza on 06/06/20 at 21:22:42

Hey guys, I've noticed that two cables coming off of my rear break pedal. the main one (long) goes straight back to to the break drums, the second cable is shorter. I don't know where this second (short) cable goes. I have a Clymer manual and there is no mention of this second cable anywhere. I believe that it connects to the frame and just sits there.

Is this correct?
If so, what is it? what is it used for?
If not, where does it go?

If you guys require a picture just let me know, I'll take one.

I have a 2006 S40. I bought it completely disassembled and have been putting it back together  little by little.

It turns on the stop light. Connects to the stop light switch.

Just be sure you never break your brake cable.  ;)

Unfortunately I do not. I haven't seen many Savages around here (North East PA). But I did check out an older bike around my job. I think I have an Idea of what I'm looking for, but I can't find anything on the OEM second of bike bandits to get an idea of. How it hooks up.

BTW, I noticed that you sell a lot of parts. Do you have a website or is it done all through these forums? I sent you an email because right now I can't send PMs...
