Title: barnett clutch
Post by nickbilljim on 03/13/20 at 12:09:07

Hi I  have a 86 savage I have increased the power on my bike and  now  the clutch slips.I have measured the friction plates and the steel  plates and there is no wear at all,
I have tried heavy duty clutch springs,
I ordered an extra friction plate and steel plate but when I put them in the basket  there was not enough room for any free play
I have tried pre-loading the clutch springs with washers it worked a bit but it still slips
I am thinking of buying barnett friction plates. What makes these better than standard?and will they cure my slipping problem
                                                many thanks

Try just the steel plate in the bottom of the basket.
the aluminum basket is known to wear.

how much is the throwout rod sticking out of the spider?
