Title: Tachometers for the savage
Post by TheBrendan312 on 03/10/20 at 20:27:44

All the old links for tachs that work with the savage are dead so I was wondering what actually works with the savage?

Did you ever find out what might work on our bikes? I'm curious about it to

When I started riding a savage, I thought I needed a tach. By the time I had enough information on them and understood the hassles involved, I'd gotten comfortable with my ears and seat of the pants to tell me when to shift.
The thing is very forgiving
Go ride.
Eventually you'll shift, look at the Speedo and realize
By George, you've gawt it..

I bought the dime city cycles one that is the same as the one Ryca used to have. it works really well.

This Tachometer from Dime City Cycles appears
to be the same one that Ryca used to sell:

Here's a post from our Technical Documents section
showing a couple of ways to mount the tach:

.... and here's one with instructions and a parts list
for the way I mounted mine:

I fitted a RYCA tach. on mine. While it is not exactly necessary, because it is located high on the bars I can use it as a speedo without dropping my eyes down to the speedo on the tank which I cannot see without taking my eyes off the road.

I think that is a good enough reason to justify a tach.

Been using one of these for 7 years. Works fine. Uses one wire running down to the spark plug lead. Still on the original battery. When I got mine they were only about $20 bucks

Have about 195.4 hrs. on it since I installed it, which was only about a week after I bought it. (The bike that is.)

Depends if you want digital or analogue. I've had one of the Dime City type for nearly 10 years, had the light bulb replaced once, no other trouble. Although I have black face white numerals, I would have preferred white face black numerals and these should be available as well.
