Title: Re: Inarguable lawgic Post by Eegore on 01/17/20 at 16:18:21 The IRS wants to offer free tax filing but its written into law, due to lobbying by corporations, that they can not publicly advertise this. Also the IRS has attempted a reverse accountability system, and this was also shot down by corporate lobbying. Private corporations like H&R Block and TurboTax want the "guesswork" because that's how they make money. The IRS, based off of legislation requests, has indicated they want less guesswork, free filing, and reverse accountability. https://observer.com/2019/04/tax-law-irs-free-preparation-service/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/house-backs-bill-barring-irs-from-offering-free-tax-filing-services/2019/04/09/f9eba6ee-5ae9-11e9-9625-01d48d50ef75_story.html https://www.irs.gov/individuals/free-tax-return-preparation-for-you-by-volunteers |
