I think the problem is that nobody that is anti-gun, or even more important: On The Fence, will ever relate to banning matches as a reasonable argument for the ownership of firearms.

If one's goal is to complain, then job well done. If one's goal is to make a reasonable argument for gun ownership then going on about banning matches will get you nowhere.

Yeah it is an argument people will subscribe to because the utility of the banned item matches the crime, instills fear, and is not an item people use daily in regular aspects of their lives.

Banning matches does not address a fear of matches or fire, and is not an item utilized in daily activity for most people.

Its a good way to complain, but a bad way to get people to vote.

It is tiresome watching the politicians scrobble for votes when let a true killer remain available to the public. Smoking kills 500K people in the US every year.....

Alcohol kills more, and due to driving it kills more non-users than second hand smoke ever will.
