Title: Gun Control -Politely
Post by NHLycan on 12/08/19 at 12:06:32

Who should not be allowed to own firearms?

Felons who have served their terms
Felons on parole
Misdemeanor convicts
Animal abusers
Stalkers
People under a protective order
People who have killed legally
Illegal immigrants
Unnaturalized residents
Tourists
Green card holders
Convicted domestic abusers
Accused domestic abusers
The suicidal
Junkies
Alcoholics
Those who have been involuntarily committed
Those who have voluntarily committed themselves
Other clinically insane conditions
Drunk drivers
The brain damaged
Tourette's syndrome sufferers
Chromosomal defectives
Alzheimer's patients
Parkinson's patients
The blind
The near blind
Children under 18
Or 16
Or 12
Adults over 80
The elderly who are no longer allowed to drive
Rest home residents
Sociopaths
Pathological liars
The depressed
People on antipsychotics

I'm sure there are people on this list who you disagree with denying their 2nd A rights. And there are probably people who you would add.

Or maybe you're an absolutist. In either direction. But it's a conversation we should be able to have politely.

There are vulnerable people are on your list and they should certainly have a weapon.
And there are people on the list who have witnessed or are experiencing a lot of violence from close by, they should also have a weapon.

All the people not on the list should hand in their weapons.

Gun control is best defined as 'sub moa'.

"People who have killed legally"

This is a rough one.  All military with combat kills can no longer carry a weapon, or would this only apply after discharge?  Law enforcement that saves a life by means of deadly force will have to be terminated so they can hire someone who has not legally killed a person.  Anyone working in state corrections with capital punishment, or maybe just the medical staff member who administers the medications?

"Alcoholics"

Another one that would be interesting to uphold.  Does "recovering" count, as in people in Alcoholics Anonymous that have decades of sobriety and work as counselors?  How would one be clinically and criminally designated as an alcoholic?  Native Americans with genetic predisposition for alcohol abuse?

"Children under 18"

Children under 18 can not "own" firearms already.

"Drunk drivers"

Already illegal, are you asking if we should legalize the possession of a weapon while one is committing a DUI?  Or are you saying if you were convicted of a DUI you can no longer legally own a firearm?

Let's add to that list if you have no real issues against taking a life, regardless of the circumstances.....

That alone already proves you inherently view life as a choice, to be made by anyone, but the one which, gets killed.

"Let's add to that list if you have no real issues against taking a life, regardless of the circumstances....."

So anyone willing to save themselves, or their wife/child etc. from murder?  Hard to enforce that considering one could just claim they would never save their child's life but instead let them die at the hands of others.

That sounds more like self defense, not abortion.

That sounds like taking any human life for any reason under any circumstance.  Where is it clarified that you mean abortions?

Self defense is a circumstance that can result in the taking of a human life.  If a man is going to murder your wife, and you choose to defend her in a manner that may result in his death would be having no "real issue" with taking his life regardless of the circumstances.

If a child rapist is actively assaulting your child and you choose to stop him and that method could result in death, then you have no "real issue" with taking his life regardless of the circumstances.

Maybe you could have said people that commit or would commit to abortion.

Ok on hold tight 8-)

Banning guns is not fair. All generations for me, were allowed to shoot someone.
I have a lot of anger in me, and I always have to hold that.
I was hoping that someone would give me a reason to shoot.
If guns are banned, I have to wait until it's war, because in war, I can let go of all frustration and anger and kill and rape.

I think I'll just join the army.

I hope Zevenenergie is being tongue and cheek. if not may there be a added to your list Nhlycan, Liberals? ;)
But if that is the case then Sew and TT would be denied guns.
I disagree with both of them, but I see no reason why they should be denied guns.

The problem with denying guns is allowing tyrants to take charge.
While Hitler had universal gun control (He did not spell out no Jews to have guns) there are examples of places that have.
In the United states in Michigan they passed a law years ago that one had to go to the police station to receive their gun after purchase, The lawmakers felt that no black man would step feet in a police station. thus denying a group access to guns.
Earlier in the country we kept guns from Indians, (think Wounded Knee) :'(

The real problem is one side want to turn guns into demons
And the other side a god.
It is just a thing, the real evil or good lives in one heart.
Until one side recognizes there is a God (and also demons)
and the other side stops taking God for granted.
We will still be in this mess.

Dear Matchless G11
Being tongue and cheek well.... yes and no. :-/
In every good man there is evil and in every evil man there is goodness

Dit you know;
Demon comes from the Greek word "daimoon" and means "deity."

At the roots of our fears and pains is a demon who feeds on it.
Only when we face our demons do we become free from it.

And as long as we do not meet our fears and pains, we are unknowingly directed by it.

When we are free from pain and anxiety and all the thoughts that arise from it, Who are we then?

And would we want a gun?
