Doral's an awesome place. I see it as a home field advantage for Trump and the United States.

Home field advantage takes priority over the Constitution?

For the Red Hats, it is always team over Constitution, in every instance.   They don't believe in the rule of law, which elevates “us” to the level of  “me”.

So, is this where I should ask about lefties being unwilling to control immigration?
How about sanctuary cities?
I've been watching lefties twist things to say what they want for a long time.
He's not doing anything wrong..

 Also wrong.

So since someone else out there commits a crime equal to or worse than I do then mine should be ok.  I'm not doing anything wrong.

Hosting an event at an internationally recognized facility is hardly on the level of violating the emoluments clause. Whatever financial gain Trump could make from the event would barely be noticeable so there doesn't appear to be a personal profit or power motive which is at the heart of the clause. Congress could remove all doubt and vote its consent which of course will not happen given the 'destroy Trump even if we destroy the nation' nature of the Democratic Congress.

The definition of emolument at the time of it's introduction to the US Constitution, to me, does not exclusively mean money or "financial gain".  They already indicated they would host "at cost".

Any advantage or benefit, to me, is part of the clause and hosting at owned property, to me, is an advantage.  Like a home-field advantage.

Title: Re: G7 at Doral?... Really?...
Post by Serowbot on 10/18/19 at 09:22:48

"At cost" is never at cost...  but even if it was,...
Emoluments are a thing of value...
"Profit; advantage; gain in general; that which promotes the good of any person or thing."
Even the publicity and prestige of having the G7 at Doral is a thing of value.

I think, if this is not retracted, there will be a G6 held outside the US in place of this event.
Trump says he won't discuss Climate Change anyway.
G6 will shut him out.

Hilary made millions and millions selling influence. Don't even pretend all those foreign nations were giving millions to the Clinton Foundation just because they wanted to help people......   They got something.

The deal with fueling and staying at Trump's Scottish course has been long discredited (remember that word, discredited?).

I don't care if they hold this at Doral. Whatever Trump makes out of it is comparatively peanuts to him. He's not doing it for the money. He's doing it to remind everyone he's got the biggest bat and he'll beat the hell out of them if they don't bow down to US interest. Trump's done nothing to make me suspicious that he's out to make a buck for himself.

On thing you leftist traitors should consider is the "chicken little" phenomenon.

You've  launched so many ridiculous allegations against Trump and nothing has stuck on the wall so I think most people are tuning you out more and more. If you think you're changing the minds of the several hundred thousand people in those 5 or 6 key states, you're in for a rude awakening. The impeachment thing is not doing what you think it is. Add to that the weak candidates you've got to choose from and the safe money's on Trump.

I wouldn't trust those numbers are an accurate representation of anything other than who the pollsters called. The Trump phenomenon is hard to capture with polls.

Post by Serowbot on 10/18/19 at 11:04:45

Yes,.. it certainly is...

Trump carried Texas in 2016 by 9 percentage points. But 48% of Texas voters said they definitely wouldn’t vote for Trump in 2020, according to a Quinnipiac poll released last month, compared with 35% who said they’d definitely support him. Other surveys have shown leading Democrats within the margin of error in head-to-head matches with Trump.

“Trump is without question the worst thing that has happened to the Texas Republican Party in the last 20 years,” Rice University political scientist Mark Jones said. “He single-handedly turned Texas from a red state to a pink state.”

Na, the FACT, that:
"...a White House curator, said there's no doubt the Clintons invite guests to stay in the Lincoln Bedroom..."

Does not meaning anything.
After all, the Clinton were just Angles, and NEVER did anything wrong.

Going forward, I'm not going to respond to to this mavigogun guy. Although he's been around more lately, I've referred to eau from Australia as a drive by shooter. Weeks or months pass and suddenly a thread would pop-up like a drive by shooter, he wouldn't respond to retorts or not to conclusions, and then he'd disappear for another long stretch. This guy however is camped across the street firing into the house only to cause chaos. When challenged to put up or shut up, he revealed he has no real vested belief in what he's saying other than to start $hit and then run away.

Whelp, Trump just announced that the meeting wont be at Doral after all.  He suggested that maybe they could do it at Camp David.

I think that's a terrific idea.

All the big shots can fly into Dulles, helo or carpool out to Catoctin Mountain, stay in little cabins in the Maryland woods guarded by a bunch of Marines with no sense of humor, have their meeting and fly the F*ck home.

Maybe if they have any spare time they can do some fishing in Little Hunting Creek. Eisenhower  used to like to fly fish there.

I've been to Catoctin Mountain State park, which is in the vicinity. Pretty place if you like being out in the country, doing your own cooking, and sleeping in a tent. I don't think most of the folks who are going to be attending this shindig are much into roughing it though ;D I suspect that they are more the 5 star resort crowd.

You must be bursting with pride, much like Mitt Romney...

“The ceasefire does not change the fact that America has abandoned an ally,” Romney said. “Adding insult to dishonor, the Administration speaks cavalierly, even flippantly — even as our ally has suffered death and casualty, their homes have been burned, and their families have been torn apart. We know the truth about our Kurd allies. They lost 11,000 combatants in our joint effort to defeat ISIS. We dropped bombs from the air and provided intelligence and logistics behind the lines. The Kurds lost thousands of lives.”

He blasted Trump: “What we have done to the Kurds will stand as a blood stain in the annals of American history.” He cautioned, “There are broad strategic implications of our decision as well. Iranian and Russian interests in the Middle East have been advanced by our decision. Are we so weak, and so inept diplomatically that Turkey forced the hand of the United States of America? Turkey? I believe that it is imperative that public hearings are held to answer these question, and I hope the Senate is able to conduct those hearings next week.”

So the Doral G7 bailout was a failure...

Apologies for the thread hijack, but since this is a motorcycle forum...

Maryland Rte. 77 between US Rte 15 in Thurmont Md. and Md Rt 64 in Smithburg Md runs past Camp David and is an incredible motorcycle road. It's a very twisty two lane with a lot of elevation changes with mostly woods on either side. I've ridden it in both directions and it's very pretty and a lot of fun. If anyone happens to be in the area - it isn't far from the Gettysburg Battlefield Park, and only about an hour and a half North of the Washington DC area, it's definitely a worthwhile trip.

I thought Trump was getting filthy rich (richer) off The Presidency.....
I don't remember when or where he said this but I distinctly recall him saying he was likely going to lose wealth as The President. When he's done, I doubt he'll make the killing as other ex-Presidents have.

That's ten years ago... he's been no darling of the Left for over a decade.
He changed his position on healthcare, women's rights, LGBT, guns, and virtually everything else, apparently just to oppose Obama.

Only an idiot or or committed partisan can’t (or won't) distinguish between a heckler at the theater  and other members of the audience calling for civility.    This equivocating demonstrates only your character.

The President is using his office for direct personal enrichment-  legal and ethical transgressions obvious to any honest consideration.   The foolish jeopardy of this circumstance has even been impressed on Trump, who has now publicly abandoned plans to leverage the G7 to commit this crime at this particular property.

This guy however is camped across the street firing into the house only to cause chaos. When challenged to put up or shut up, he revealed he has no real vested belief in what he's saying other than to start $hit and then run away.

You all do what you want, Mnspring, Jog, Ray, Old, but I'm not going to bother with what is essentially my shoe scrapings.

Bwaaaahaaahaahaa!!!!

Opening his eyes, reality still there, he's resolved to keep them closed.   Pull the drapes tight.   Tuck away in a safe place for proclaiming fictions, lament the passing of a time when hateful and poorly crafted lies were safe from scrutiny.  He performs a public chest thumping as he retreats, urging his posse of hyenas to tuck-tail and join him in running- just like any other paper blowhard that has been bested.

The story here, it seems, isn't just President Trump's brazen trampling of the democratic underpinnings of our Republic, but the character failure of his supporters, petty co-conspirators, who, feigning outrage, are too fragile to face their own reflection.
