Title: Tool kit cover problems?
Post by Cchamoun on 10/08/19 at 20:21:10

Just a quick question, anyone have trouble keeping the tool cover on? I took mine off to store insurance and registration in but the lock doesn’t seem to lock and I can pull the cover off without using the key.

They tend to fall off.
With some careful attention, you can adjust it to stay.
Still got the edge guard on it?

without any pictures, can't comment what's wrong.
check out this pdf of the parts list
http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1290238904/0#0
on page 26 is the tool box cover.
there's supposed to be a lock plate on the bottom
and the plastic bat box cover too.
if you have all that, then check out the tabs on the inside at the top.
they can get bent and will not engage with the top very well.
but even if these aren't great, the latch at the bottom should hold the cover on unless you bend the hell out of it.

I’ll see if I can get some pictures uploaded. It seems like everything is there.

I figured it out. The dealer had to install the battery and when they did, they reinstalled the latch part with the two screws upside down.

...hence why so may people lose their side covers :-)

Rather amusing that it took a dealer to accomplish that. :)

And that's why we don't trust dealers.  ;)

I've found a kilt works fine, barring high winds.
