I found a set of forward controls online that state that a custom kick stand bracket and kick stand are required for models 1988 onwards. From what I can tell online, there doesn't seem to be a difference in these parts over the years. Can anyone confirm this?

Hi Batman, I understand they referring to a custom fabricated piece. I was wondering if there is a difference between the pre-1988 and post-1988 kickstands/kickstand brackets to justify the need for a custom piece for post-88 model years? From what I see online, they appear to be the same across all model years.
