A case of .22 rounds is 5,000 rounds, which is a routine purchase.
And a routine purchase of Center Fire rounds is 1,000 rounds per case.
Add 4-5 calibers, add a couple of types and brands.
10,000 Totaly routine for someone that shoots for a hobby.
(Yet Spin the story, so it sounds like if someone has, 10,000 they are a total DFI,
AND use it to SCARE, people that don't know)

(Gee a golfer only 'NEEDS', one tee and one golf ball, Yet how many do they, 'routinely' have ?)

Again the UL, FDS's, ON PURPOSE ! SCARE people, who don't understand.
For the simple reason that when the likes of AOC, (and tt),
proposes a ban on x amount of rounds purchased at one time.
It will trigger a, 'RED' law.
Then that person's guns can be ALL taken away,
"For the good of the others'

Which is the Goal.
Safety, saving innocent lives, is not the Goal.
The Goal for the UL Socialists is, banning/confiscation of firearms.

Bot, haven't you said you use to shoot a brick of 22's when you went to the range. (Just like a whole bunch of people do)
How many rounds in a brick ?
How many rounds is that if you went to the range, one time a month. And you bought ammo to do that, because it was cheaper, or on sale ?

Hmm, well, if you actually did read the article, the reason he was arrested was because he was threatening federal judges. They had been watching him for months.

The fact that he had over 10K rounds and 25 guns does indeed play into his plot.

Unless you think it's ok for a mentally unbalanced person to have that much ammo and that many guns.....?

Now, if you want to talk about liars - tell me again how there are "many, many" ways to recover serial numbers off a gun that had been filed off... ;D

Before 1968, Guns did not have to have a Ser # on them.
Many did, but they did not, 'have' to.
But you knew that.

Anything that has had a # (or logo or such) the ways of lifting, recovering, etched/stamped/vibrated/milled/molded, impressions, from a ground/filed/heated/Acid treated/Gas or Arc welding, piece of steel which can be made from Many, MANY type's/grades of steel, or Many, MANY type's/grade of aluminum, or many, MANY type's/grades of plastic.
All require a different process.

I am aware of acid etching, but not of it being used successfully, and electron backscatter diffraction is very difficult to get results from.

From what I am gathering you consider acid etching on each metal type to be a different method, where I consider acid etching to be one method. As in type and timeframe of use to be all one process even if the variables change, such as acid volume, or time it is applied.
