Title: Prayer Request
Post by LANCER on 08/07/19 at 07:41:45

I am asking prayer for my daughter-in-law Jamie.  She has been in ICU for 2 weeks and just got out yesterday, as far as I know right now.
She is 46, married to my son and they have 4 kids.
She has what is called an aortic dissection, which is a tear in the inner lining of the arteries coming off the heart.  In her case, this is all from a birth defect she had from the get-go.  She has not just a tear but  it is torn from just off the heart all the down to her hips.
She has suffered from extremely high blood pressure all her life (200 and above always)  and high pulse.  there is  no surgical fix for this.  A special "structural" stint was installed to give a part of one artery some structural support.
Part of the birth defects were she has just one kidney, although slightly larger than normal, and her circulatory system seems to have some strange connections and routings.
They cannot take her blood pressure/pulse down to the level that would let her body try to heal itself because she is accustomed to the 200+ and she gets near 150 she starts sleeping a lot and becomes none responsive at times.
The doctors are trying to figure out how to arrive a happy medium but unless God intervene there just is no happy medium.

Thanks y'all

Keeping her and your whole clan in my prayers, Lancer.
I've worked in Cardiology for 30+ years (cardiac sonographer) and I'm aware how devastating this news can be.  I've worked in pediatrics for the past 20+ years so the dissections we see in our patients from Ehlers-Danlos, Marfan and the other connective tissue disorders aren't as common as in adults.  But I know resent advances in stent technology and techniques have shown great improvement.  The dissection flaps can also heal on their own to some degree.
Hang in there, brother.

Scott

Hand to hand combat in a biblical sense.

Dang....this is really a tuff one.

Not to jack your thread, but you just never know what life will bring, you might not get another chance to tell someone you love them, or to even accept God, it can happen that quickly.

Monday night I fell out of my bed....
Did a swan dive right into my hardwood floor.
I wasn't dreaming, or having a restless night, or......
All I knew is I awoke with extreme pain in my right shoulder and the right side of my neck....
I must have have tried to tackle the floor?????

I thought it was broke.

I iced it down right away, and just got back in bed.
Sleeping was hard, but I got some rest.
At 66 years of age, the body just can't take assaulting like it use to  ;D

I am feeling better, its not broken, I don't think, I've broken my shoulder before, and I'm mending....
HOWEVER, if I had hit just a little bit different, I think I could have snapped my neck.....WHILE SLEEPING  :o

That is why we should really be grateful, thankful, and enjoy the moment of our lives, as that really is all we have for certain!

Prayers Lancer to all your family, focus on what is, and enjoy it right now....peace bro!

PS: If I'm gonna die in bed, she better be pretty, my wife is a great shot  :o

Sorry, the devil made me do it  ;)

I cringe when I see
Prayer Request.
I read with heart in throat.
I've seen the trials of my friends and I care.
You have my prayers.
