Title: Nicely Done Texas!
Post by T And T Garage on 07/25/19 at 06:55:26

Texas Has Generated More Electricity From Wind Than Coal So Far This Year

For the first time ever, wind has surpassed coal as an energy source in Texas.

Data released this month by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas shows wind created 22 percent of the electricity used in the first half of the year, edging out coal by 1%.

Oh, but be careful of the windmill cancer!  LMAO!!!

I won't dispute those figures; however, it is an anomaly because of the Santa Ana winds.  Those who spend time in Southern NM or west TX will understand.

Best regards,

Wind farms as a realistic form of significant grid energy is a joke. Stop wasting money on it. The only people who believe the hype are idiotic partisans, environmental religious zealots and those who make a good living from this scam. They’ll never be a real part of the solution without massive energy storage systems (known by their more common but dirtier sounding name, batteries!)

Use our engineering capabilities to develop nuclear power.

The bull$hit reasons why leftists say no reveals this is a religious ideology to them.

Seeing, for as far as the eyes can see, is the only real beauty in west Texas.
Thanks to those Frikken windmills that's destroyed. Ghastly losers, propped up by a crazed cult, like ethanol,, insanity writ large.

Cooling towers
Centrally located
Acceptable
Frikken windmills
Spread across MILES of the countryside as you go down the highway.
Ghastly..yes Ghastly..
Between San Angelo and Midland the eyes are constantly assaulted by them.

You'd rather be assaulted by a melt down?

Speaking for myself, I’d rather not be assaulted by any technology.

Nuclear is the future. We’re going to have to perfect it’s use at some point, might as well get started now. We’re not going beyond our solar system  with power from a windmill.

If you think about it, solar is just environmentally friendly nuclear...  ;D

Ever heard of a solar sail?

The power density of nuclear is orders of magnitude greater than wind.

Wind energy generation is a hobby that a few people get very rich  from,  the uninformed and environmental zealots sleep better with and a few unfortunate ones in the poorest areas are stuck with.

LOL - a joke?  Well, I can see what the joke really is - and it's not wind power.

You have no earthly idea what power density means do you?..,,,  Google it. It’s okay, I wouldn’t expect you too. I worked in that industry for a while, you didn’t.

But come on now buddy, you’re making it hard to be friends...”...but I’m trying Ringo, I’m trying real hard.”

Thanks for your concern mark - it's touching...

I'm well aware of what power density is and what it means to the grid.

What my OP is all about is that this is actually a proof of concept on wind power.  What about that don't you understand?

You afraid of windmill cancer?   ;D

Now, when someone presents us with a way to do away with coal - I'll take it.

Yeah, nuclear is one - but by no means the only.

Look what Elon did for New Zealand.  Look at the Chinese and how they're jumping on solar (and leaving us in the dust...).  If trump were any kind of real businessman, he'd see that those emerging markets could propel the US onto the forefront.

But no... big oil owns the US.  Fossil fuels are choking us out and all Congress does is fundraise with them in mind.  It's stupid.  It's myopic.  It's capitalism 101.

But yeah, you keep downplaying all the other alternatives and see how that works out....

Oh please...you've got no idea what that means.

It's capitalism 101
But you're finally right about that..... it is capitalism 101. And it's the reason someone with your comprehension of the world has the opportunity with his limited skill set to be prosperous enough to afford a lifestyle higher than the vast, vast majority of the world. Even a blind squirrel like yourself finds an acorn..

As a electrical engineer I have to agree with Mark.
Trying to replace coal plants with wind power and solar is like trying to start a big diesel truck on a below zero day with a coin cell battery.

You must be on Big Oil's Payroll like me.....   That's the only possible explanation....cause it can't be basic engineering.

Anyone who thinks nuclear power is the answer doesn't know anything about it.

Ignorance is bliss, isn't it mark?  You're becoming the poster child for it.

But here's something for you to think about - if nuclear power is so god-dammed great, then why aren't there more plants?

You want to know why?  Money. Unfettered capitalism.  The fossil fuel industry.

People like you think that it's all fine that we're owned by big oil.  How's that working out?  How many more gigatons of CO2 do we need in the atmosphere?  Why the hell would Congress cut their own throat with nuclear power when they get big money from big oil?

LOL - you've been brainwashed by your conservative buds.  You can't even see that the same roadblocks exist for alternative energy as it does for your precious nuclear.

Hilarious.

I know an enormous amount about it.  I know someone who spent 35 - 40 years in national laboratories and nuclear power plants.  The technology is robust, the problem is the how do you dispose of the by products.

Best regards,

A-YEP !!!!!!!

tt can you explain,
why a State with 193 days of sunshine,
has 90% LESS, 'Solar Farms',
than a State with 90 days, of sunlight ?
