Title: 10-min video about some of the 1970 super bikes Post by DesertCat on 07/10/19 at 20:22:37 For you older guys (like me). Here's a pretty good 10-minute video overview of some of the 1970s super bikes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HESIjHvOjtw |

In 1971, while in the USAF, I bought a new 1971 H1. So I've had 2 of those. But I never had any of the others in that video. |
Title: Re: 10-min video about some of the 1970 super bike Post by Dave on 07/11/19 at 08:00:25 That was the prime of my youth! I was a junior in high school and I worked as a part time mechanic at a Kawasaki dealer after school. I got to take the Kawasaki H2 bikes out of the crate, assembled them, filled them up with fluids and got to take them on the test ride....they made a 250, 350, 500 and 750 triple - they were all a blast to ride. Later that year we got two of the 900cc Z1 4 stroke bikes. (It was a small town in a kinder/simpler time.....I can't imagine any dealer letting a 17 year old kid assemble and test ride new motorcycles now). A couple years later I worked at a Suzuki dealer and got to assemble and ride all the Suzuki 3 cylinder 2 strokers.....GT380, GT550 and GT750 Water Buffalo, and I ended up buying a new Suzuki RE5 Wankel engine bike when they put a $1,000 rebate on them....I got mine brand new for $1,700! I never was in a place where I got to experience the Yamaha or Honda bikes of that era. |

Nowadays, if you can find one in good shape, they cost over $5,000. I've ridden most of those 1970s super bikes, just never owned most of them. But my buds did. :) |
