Title: floatbowl jet?
Post by zevenenergie on 07/04/19 at 08:00:40

I am cleaning my carburetor.
There was water in the floatbowl.

And there was a lot of dirt and rust in it. There is a hole that I cannot clean properly and I think there is a sprayer in it, because copper shavings head out. Does anyone know the size of this hole?

I cleaned the floatbowl.

THe hole is closed. and I tried to open it with a piece of thin iron wire. When I blow into it, I hear air flowing but the hole is very small.
On the back there is the number 22.

And when I drill with a thin drill bit, copper shavings come out.
so it's a jet. .
Does anyone know which size drill I can put through to completely clean it, without making the hole too large?

I have already tried everything, including an ultrasonic cleaner.

This is what claymer said about it:

I am pretty sure that is where the Fuel Enrichment circuit (choke) get the fuel it needs.

Not sure what is down inside the hole.

Today, I went to an engine repair expert, with the carburetor, and he tested the hole. He was confident that it was good. Because gasoline could flow through it.

Dave, tank you for your information :)

I also cleaned my tank with acetic acid.
A lot of rust and mess came out of it.

And I bought a rapor petcock , on which I stuck the original filter with J-Bweld.   :)

I got bad news for you.....the regular JB Weld is not "Gas Proof".  JB Weld does make an epoxy for gas tank repair.

When submerged in gasoline, JB Weld will soften and fail.

The screens that where on the Raptor work just fine......and they are new (unlike the old screen that was on the stock petcock).

Tanks Dave, It was a second hand petcock and the filters where broken.

J-bweld said that it is possible if you cure it well.

Feedback is welcom.

Yikes!

If it was my bike and I was riding farther than a block away......I would be getting a new (reliable) petcock.

I don't have any screens on my petcock, but I do use a small (clear) inline filter. The reason I went with this setup is; I can see if there is debris and it's easily changed.
