Title: Jawa 350 OHC Post by philthymike on 05/28/19 at 11:58:56 This is a really cool little thumper. http://www.jawamotorcycles.co.uk/350OHC.html Actually has EFI and ABS too! |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by ohiomoto on 05/28/19 at 12:08:39 These have been such a hit they are way behind on production. https://www.rideapart.com/articles/345364/opinion-jawa-delivery-delays-expansion/ |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by philthymike on 05/28/19 at 12:35:59 Dang they need to stop releasing pictures of beauties such as this http://https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/Z2EMZ/s1/jawa-forty-two.jpg |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by jcstokes on 05/28/19 at 12:41:17 Interestingly enough, the Czech Jawa made a 650cc single, Rotax powered a few years ago, don't know whether the Indians will come up with something similar. My first bike was a Jawa 350 twin, in the sevneties. |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by zipidachimp on 05/28/19 at 22:27:00 Interesting; 2 stroke(old) or 4 stroke(new), they still use dual exhausts! Suzuki take note! cheers! 8-) |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by philthymike on 05/29/19 at 05:41:25 Suzuki take note: EFI and ABS at a similar price point to the LS650! |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by Ruttly on 05/30/19 at 13:50:41 Jawa & Royal Enfield all very cool , but I’m waiting to see the new BSAs. I really like Enfield 650s. I love all the 60s retro bikes , before cruiser and rice rocket were even thought of , it was just called a motorcycle. |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by Dave on 05/31/19 at 06:35:47 One of the "requirements" that I believe is important for any of these retro singles (if they want to make any sales in the US) - is the ability to keep up with traffic on the highway. Even the tiny Smart Cars, Prius and other "eco" cars can go 70-75 mph without a problem......owning a motorcycle that struggles to reach 60 mph and can only be ridden on backroads or downtown is really going to limit the sales. |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by philthymike on 05/31/19 at 07:13:12 I agree Dave and would add that these bikes should have adequate suspension capability for riding in the crumbling infrastructure states like PA where a rider can easily get pitched off because of overwhelmed suspension at the 75+ mph you have to maintain to not be a target for aggressive drivers. |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by ohiomoto on 05/31/19 at 08:34:00 Meh...can't ride any worse than we have with the LS650. Probably an improvement. |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by philthymike on 05/31/19 at 09:52:47 Mine rides like a magic carpet. It’s because it’s constantly airborne on PAs highways beyond 65 mph! :o |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by norm92de on 05/31/19 at 09:57:01 Ruttly, I'm with you. Just give me a motorcycle. I suspect unfortunately that we are a minority. :'( |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by ohiomoto on 05/31/19 at 12:43:58 I wanted newish "plain old motorcycle"...I had a hard time finding one I liked so I built my own. |

Ohio Moto, That’s why I built the tracker cause at that time there wasn’t any bikes being sold in the US that I wanted. So I built one I like. But since then the homely little Savage stocker that I used to hate still seems to be my only choice and for some reason it isn’t as ugly as it once was, go figure. I will continue on collecting parts for my next build , a 1980 Yamaha SR500 with a 695cc totally built Savage engine , the Yamazuki SR695 ! |
Title: Re: Jawa 350 OHC Post by Ruttly on 05/31/19 at 14:24:11 Norm , We are not many , that still would rather ride big singles than multi cylinder bikes. I fear most of these newer singles will all be in the 350 to 450 range , not quite big enough. But it excites me to see these retro singles. |
