Title: Never ending exhaust leaks
Post by drannonb on 05/02/19 at 12:19:17

I’ve been trying for like 2 months (on and off) to swap out the stock muffler to a Harley one with zero success.  I took the advice of several people and purchased the Ryca adapter but there’s zero documentation on how to actually USE the thing.  I’ve tried the clamps that came with the Ryca kit, I’ve tried exhaust sealer, and I just can’t get it to not leak.  I’m starting to go crazy over here!  Please help!

We need to know exactly what is going on in order to advise you.

Cut more slots into the pipe it'll allow for better clamping.

You need good clamps and your local HD dealer has them...along with HD branded oil, leather accessories, underwear, beer, bread, candy, cigarettes, and various other HD branded items they can shill.  ::)

But the clamps are good.  :)

Yep....Harley clamps are great.

And you can get them on eBay really cheaply!

The clamp fits the muffler side fine - when using the Harley clamp on the header side of the RYCA adapter you will need to put a shim strip between the clamp and the chrome adapter.....you can cut the shim from aluminum or tin cans.

No input on how it actually works yet, but...
I used two adapters in a row to fit from outside to inside diameters.
A lot of exhaust sealer, a tin wrap and hose clamps, a lot of hose clamps.
Going to wrap it besides, and hope.

Without actually knowing why it's leaking it's not likely we can help.
Good clamps are essential
But without knowing what you are doing, we can't tell if you are doing something wrong, trying to fit things that simply won't work, we don't know.

Just ditch that adapter and use a soup can. Worked flawlessly for me and many others. See images in post at link below.
