Title: Carb Cable
Post by hotrod on 04/27/19 at 13:03:04

I have a 36mm VM Mikuni carb and manifold. Just need a cable.  Is there one from another model that I can use ?

Lancer has the proper cables for sale.....or you have to build your own.

I went to a bicycle shop and bought brake cables....and you can use some of the original cable parts if you need to.  Soldering the stainless cable requires the correct flux and solder......and I found it is best to use a piece of metal held in a vice and a heated pool of solder to dip the cable in to "tin" it (trying it with the torch always overheated it).

Soldering the stainless cable requires the correct flux and solder.

Radio Shack is gone.
Where did you get that stuff?

Excellent tips on How to get it done without cooking the cable.

Good place.. I got a pound of 1/16" 60/40 flux core and it cost a little over Thirty Dollars now..
I didn't know there was a solder for stainless, and special flux,

Any special cleaning/prep?
Solder where it needs cut, then cut?
