I have a pair of half chaps that I wear on occasion, and springman wears leg armor.

Good, somebody still wears them.

I have a new pair of leather chaps, never worn, heavy leather open crotch chaps with all the way up zippered & snaps on the inner leg, with a cold & rain proof seal on the joint.

Free to a good home, the size is EXLarge with adjustable lacing so it can be medium to EXLarge according to the pattern lacing used.

It's either that or pay someone to cut some out of the legs of one pair and splice it into the others..
Because I can't zip up on account of I need more leather to wrap around my thighs. I have medium and large, and I swear they are labelled bakkerds..

I still do ,

I have two pair . One is thick w/tiny cig-pocket , and the other has "Real Pockets" --- I wear them in the winter.

I do own a pair of chaps, they were my brothers when he road. Very special to me. AND yes, I do wear them during appropriate weather.

I so wear the hard shin and knee guards on occasion. Not only do I feel safer with them but they also keep my lower legs warm and dry if the road is wet. I may get a pair of chaps some day. For now for the really cold days I have insulated and armored riding over pants.

Sure. They are synthetic material (poly or nylon) with cheapie hard plastic protection on knees and removable insulation (like on a jacket). In theory they would provide some abrasion protection. I bought them from Jafrum about 6 years ago and they were in the $40-$50 range.

I think they would provide better protection than jeans, but only marginally. They do provide warmth in cold weather though and can be made decently water resistant by spraying with water repellent. I trust my shin/knee guards to give more protection, but the coverage area is much more limited.

I didn't know they even made them with the zipper not almost impossible to get at. Plenty of leg room!!

I bought them and never wore them outside the house once. Why? I cannot say except that I felt funny walking in them and none of the granny types ever eyed my butt lustfully like they always did MM's when he bent over the breakfast bar. The chaps wuz a disappointment in that aspect.

Seriously, the boy could sing and prance, but his speedo uses were somewhat extreme and I never remember seeing him in full chaps.

For most rides, I wear full body armor.... Transit by Aerostitch. Made with Gore-Tex leather. It saved me last summer, when a car turned into me, hit me, and I went down on asphalt for the first time in 50 years of riding.

What you do in the privacy of your own home is your business.......and/or what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

However, on any of our group rides - you will be required to where pants at all times.....chaps or not.
