Riding S40, banging noise happens, grab belt guard, it's floppy, second time it's broke and cannot patch with cut out fender washer. Ring service agent, $409NZ and 7 to 10 days delivery from Japan. Tears, go to Trademe, NZ equivalent of EBAY, see ad from a "HARDTAILER", why would anyone want to do that? Complete upper belt guard, belt and pullies $NZ100, plus shipping, told him he could keep the pullies. I get the upper belt guard and nearly brand new belt for $NZ 127shipped. Self installation of guard using hammer and block of wood to re install left shock believe it or not. Thanks to "HARDTAILER".

Good deal on the used parts.....owning a Savage can be very cheap if you are a good shopper for used parts.

Sounds to me like your shock bushings have rusted onto the mounting studs. The bushings should be loose and able to rotate.....so the suspension can move freely.

Poor little arms could'nt compress the shock enough to replace it. A light tap on an angle compressed it enough to slip over the mounting.

Oh...so when you took off one shock - the bike sagged with only one shock holding the bike up.

You need to make one of Serowbot's 2x4 bike lifts.

don't compress the shock, lift the bike.
