Title: Wont stay running
Post by Jokerworld on 01/24/19 at 19:58:31

So I recently rode my 2001 ls650 around the block and found out that my throttle sleeve was cracked. Took two weeks to get the part. I installed it today and i pulled the choke out the bike started no problem. I pushed the choke in and the bike died. No clue has to what happened.

Tank is full (sitting maybe a month in the tank)
I drained the bowl and clean fuel.

Any thoughts.

Will it stay running if you hold the throttle open a bit?  If it does, someone may have used the cable adjustment to set the idle.  You should make sure the throttle cable has a little bit of play in it and then use the idle adjustment screw on the carb to set the idle.

Our bike idles higher than an HD or your average car.  If you have a low idle and/or disengage the choke completely before the bike is warmed up, it will stall.

If you are in US/Canada, it's still winter, you may need choke part way out for at least a mile.

Don't run it leaning on the sidestand.
