Title: Buell Blast
Post by Dave on 11/20/18 at 07:16:02

I like odd things (sorta' why I hang around you guys).

This popped up on the local Craigslist......it would be a nice ride if you wanted something to ride around the neighborhood, or had a beginner rider that needed something to learn on.

One young lady has been able to get her Blast to go 139mph.

A Savage will reach 139 if you don't use a parachute.

If you're high enough. You'll have a nosebleed before you get that high.

I don't think I have ever been that high.

Yea......and this is a bit more money - but it is a lot more motorcycle (and a bit less quirky).  The EX500 has a comfortable riding position, plenty of power for highway travel, good handling for the curves, and they are easy to work on and very reliable.  This one looks to be in very good shape and it has not been abused.

There are so many nice, low mileage, fun used motorcycles for sale - it is hard for me to resist the temptation sometimes.  The one thing that keeps me from buying more bikes and riding them for a year or two and re-selling them - is that there are just too many used motorcycles for sale, and it would likely be very hard to sell it.  The Cincinnati Craigslist currently has 1,648 listings under "motorcycles" (478 are Harley).

I had the ex250 ninja and loved it. I took that thing from Minnesota to California and back. 75 mpg and a 4 gal tank was pretty nice. I have heard the ex500 is pretty similar. Right now I'm looking into the vf45. Something about those old v4 engines... and I dont mind a little 80's ugly.

The Blast has its place in our world of one lung thumpers and also has after market support , performance carbs , cams and pipes , etc.  Don't think I would pass one up for a project (at the right price). Thumpers are primitive and there will always be someone wanting to rebuild & ride someone else's disposed of thumper.

The 4 gal tank part !!!  ::)

So , is the Yamaha 650 tank the biggest ever mounted on a Savage ?

Those of us (me) who were in our formulative years in the 60/70's when you could still buy a "classic" looking motorcycle - are not excited about the ugly custom motorcycles that the "transformer" generation is creating.

It is not a surprise that the tires are unscuffed........I wouldn't ride it either! :-?
