Title: EASTWOOD
Post by MMRanch on 09/24/18 at 07:35:01

Welll , I've parked my bike under the edge of the South Side of the carport for about 3 years now.    The UV Sunlight has taken its toll on one side of my last paint job.

:-?

The wife has the North Side with her "Toys" , and I'm not one to argue , so I'll be stuck with the South Side for as long as I get to keep her.   And thats " OK " .  :)

Last time I used a Polyurthane Top Coat.   It stood-up to GAS just fine , but I'm ready to try something else next time.

So , I'm thinking of these EASTWOOD two part paints , ...  ANYBODY TRIED THEM YET ?

I got mine from the local NAPA auto paint store to do the clear coat on the Savage tank. Same can with a different label and other local paint suppliers carry it as well. Check out 2K Spray Max on Amazon. I think it's $12.99.

Once punctured to mix the two parts it's a 48 hour pot life. My son was building a bike at the time, so we did the two tanks at once. Worked great and has stood up well. The one can was just right for 2 tanks.

I hadn't thought of finding it locally , that's a good idea .    That $25.oo a can leaves EASTWOOD sort of shooting themselves in the foot the way I see it.

So , did ya do the base coat and top coat in the good stuff ?
And
What about that "respirator" breathing thing … how bad are the fumes . ?

The same auto store you buy the paint.....will have respirators that come in a sealed bag and are affordable.  You can keep them in the bag and use them over and over again.

Yes, but I don't recall what we used for the base coat. It seems the auto-archive function in my brain's a little sketchy.

Thanks for the tip.  I've been planning to buy the two part paint for my old BMW Airhead project.  Maybe I can do the tank and the two fenders with one can.

Did that start with "I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" ;D
