Title: Red turn signal lens
Post by hotrod on 08/27/18 at 12:52:08

Except for the Savage, I know very little of the other Suzuki models. Is there any model of Suzuki, or any other brand of bike that uses a red signal lens that will fit  ?  I have enough spare parts to change front inner setup  to the rear to function as running lights.  Just has to be red.  Thanks.

I think you can find clear lenses to fit the Savage......then you could use a red bulb.

You could try resin casting your own.

I think you use Suzuki Intruder clear lens - then install a red dual filament or red LED bulb.

Looks like I'll go for the clear lens.   Thanks.

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while.
The clear lenses arrived today. The require a fair amount of fitting to make them work
They look exactly the same in design but the dimensions are off just enough that they don't fit into the S40 housings.

Time with a jewelers file has them fitting fairly well but the tab the screw goes into is off about 1/8" so the housing needs to be filed also.

Also when fitted the lines cast into the face of the lens are clocked so they are off also.

Not a big deal so far, not much $ was spent on this so it is what it is...
but I wanted to post my experiences on this.

You can buy cheap ones off ebay, or you could go with older indicators from the 70s. I know Yamaha at least had plenty of models with red rear indicators on the XS/TX series. I also managed to source some for the Kawasaki KZ-series, but they were not OEM.

I see from your tag line that you have a 2009 S40.

The lenses are extremely different for a 2009 (S40) vs an earlier model (I.E. 2002) Savage.

Which lens did you buy that you had to modify to get to fit your turn signals?  Please provide a link if possible.

My bike is a 2000 model. I have a spare, stock set of front running lights for the rear. The red lens is needed  for the rear turn signal / running light combo.

I have a tail light assembly that I don't want. you can have it if you want it. It came off an 86. it's a little dusty.
