The smoke has been so thick for days it’s like fog, except it’s warm out, and makes your eyes sting. No let up until maybe this weekend. I only moved to be near my mom during her last years. My wife and I will return after she passes. I lived in the greater Columbia area. There are plenty of hospitals and clinics everywhere. Very good care. And they have a lot of good beaches...Myrtle Beach’s. [ch128513] |

My eyes feel gritty, and my lungs raw. It zaps my energy. Not fun. Lancer..... thanks for your reply. BTW, have you ever been up to the Quapaw Indian casinos? That is my tribe. I haven't been yet, but thinking I will pass through their in the future. It looks great. I get my monthly news letters, they are doing great things for the local community, it appears. As to tourist, remember, I started to ride because I needed to get off the island to work, and the tourist turned my commute from minutes, to hours, getting on and off the ferry. No smoke when I left, really crummy when I hit the WA border. Down at the (Gig) harbor, the cool moist air holds the smoke like a curtain. Can't even see MT Rainier. Good news is that the Midwest is flourishing - air is clear, the weather is warm, crops are super, booze is cheap, people are happy. Even very few mossies in the UP :o, and my bro in law says the fishing has been fantastic. But the high point of the trip - met Stephen Marley and company in Missoula MT. |
