What is stunning about this isn't the ignorance from the President, but that people still not only support him in general, but also his tweets on the matter [smiley=shocked.gif]

It's even worse than that, it's almost like it's become a matter of pride to be an idiot. You know how sexual selection works so that we end up with things like a peacock's tail as the selection keeps producing offspring that select for the same trait, so the males become more outrageous and the females want more outrageous.. Well it's a bit like that with Trump, he goes freeform with ever more outlandish claims then his supporters feel obliged to back him up with a straight face by just calling anyone who can see the lunacy "You're just Trump Haters!"...

Then with no pushback Trump just says even more outlandish nonsense and so on back an forth. I think we've all given up on where this is heading. I've stopped being outraged and now I'm just kicking back and enjoying the show. One day this pathetic chapter in America's history will be written in context.

I think a large part of the problem is that people just look at something and compare it to what they have witnessed and conclude that all global factors fit within their observed reality.

I have seen X activity, I have looked up Y information so Z is the answer. Activities A through W, all the other influencing factors don't apply as they are not things I have witnessed.
