Title: It did not start on 1/20/18
Post by MnSpring on 08/04/18 at 08:38:03

It did not start Jan 20 2017

"...There was something almost insulting in Taraza's casual tone and only the habits of long association put down Odrade's immediate resentment. It was partly that word "liberal," she realized. Atreides ancestors rose up in rebellion at the word. It was as though her accumulated female memories lashed out at the unconscious assumptions and unexamined prejudices behind the concept.

"Only liberals really think. Only liberals are intellectual. Only liberals understand the needs of their fellows."

How much viciousness lay concealed in that word! Odrade thought. How much secret ego demanding to feel superior. ..."

Re-Reading some books I read when they first came out.

Published,  1984, the 5th of a Si-Fi chronicle series.

So, you're equating science fiction with reality?

Personally, I think it's important to know the difference between fact and fiction.

If you don't, well, that could cause problems in your life.

Sure, non-fiction is stranger than fiction.

True.  Perhaps mn should have posted something other than a reference to a fiction book then?

I'm just saying...

It's hard to find something elegant that's that strange.

Well T&T, seeing as you don’t possess the skill to comprehend me,
(As you have mentioned in SEVERAL other posts),
I will explain it to you.

“…There was something… … insulting in … …  that word “liberal,”  …
And:
“…Only liberals really think. Only liberals are intellectual. Only liberals understand the needs of their fellows…”

Which both ideas, are said today, yet published 33 years ago.

Which is very much the same as the US launching a submarine in 1958, which ran on a, ‘Mysterious Source Of Power”, and named it the same as another Submarine, which also ran on a,  ‘Mysterious Source Of Power”,  some 88 years after it was written about in a Si-Fi Novel.

However I do understand, it’s the same as stating that Trump did something good, and we all will benefit.
And then you stating, it is very bad, and Trump should be, …
Because you simply, don’t understand !

Said by who?  Where did you see anyone on this forum say that?  Where in public have you seen that?

And again, this is a book of fiction.  That's my point mn.

No, it's not the same at all mn.  Not even close.  You're comparing inspiration of a nuclear submarine to that of a (completely subjective) viewpoint.  There is a huge difference.

That's like me saying (which I'm not) that Mein Kampfis the republican roadmap.  Yeah, there might be some republicans out there that are nazis, but not all are.

However I do understand, it’s the same as stating that Trump did something good, and we all will benefit.

I have yet to see our president do anything that is worthy of the office.  If you want to talk policy - I can guarantee, it isn't him doing the heavy lifting.  Have you ever actually listened to him speak off prompter?
