Title: Removing forward controls
Post by Dalakebab on 07/23/18 at 11:33:24

Hi!

I just bought a LS650 Savage which has forward controls installed. But since I’m too short to ride them I need to revert to the original setting. What do I need to do that? Can I use the footpegs installed now but just remove the extender plate?

Or do I need to get hold of original footpegs etc.?

Including a picture for reference.

I would suggest finding someone who wants forward controls and do a direct exchange with them then you both have everything you need.  Both parties get happy for free.

I believe about the only thing you are going to need to go back, is the original motor mounts bolts and an original length shift rod.

Then you can sell you forward control parts.

If the forward controls are one of my sets you will only need the original shift rod to revert back to stock.
It looks like the set is not one of mine and you will need both of the original foot peg assemblies and kick stand along with a stock shift rod. There might be other parts needed also. I can only guess on how the rear brake cable was extended. I don't think you can just move everything back to the stock position.
Maybe post on the Marketplace for a trade as said before.
It looks like a nicely done set of forward controls on your bike, too bad they don't work for you.

Thanks guys!

I’m located in Sweden so a trade would meen a long waiting time without being able to ride :/

I’ve found some used parts on eBay. Guess I’ll have to go with those.
