Fitted a windscreen to my 2012 S40 a couple of days ago dimensions 450mm high and 400 wide with a slight curve top to bottom and also across
Bad buffeting as a low frequency drumming in the helmet at all speeds other than a crawl. Worse in my full face helmet than an open face helmet I tried but unacceptable to me in either. Tried tilting the screen forward and back and tried making airscoops to push air up behind the screen in an effort to break the low pressure zone there. I also made a temporary mockup of a lower height screen 350 mm from corflute as an experiment and tried that but very little better so have taken it off and now back to enjoyable windscreenless much quieter riding :)

Same here. I had to cut out the bottom a little for the 7 inch headlight. The wind would rattle my head and blur my vision. Maybe with a little more patience , I'll try it again one day. What model works ?

Interesting.
I fitted a cheap ebay windscreen last week to see if I would like it. I find it makes the ride in the hot summer to be much more pleasurable and a lot easier without the wind blast to the face.
Took it up to 75 yesterday and wasn't bad at all.

I've read many times that a windshield should follow the angle of the forks...
For me,... that has always created helmet buffeting.
Getting it more vertical, to the point of dorky looking, and the buffeting goes away...
You just have to live with the dorkiness... :-?

Interesting feedback I notice on your bike Serowbot that your screen is also
much more forward than mine I did try the more upright stance to no avail
Back to more trials!
Dorkiness is something I have had to live with before I guess I can do it again :-[ Thanks for the help What a great forum :)

18" windshield is pretty big. If that's not covering you, tilt it forward till it does.

If you're more comfortable w/out, maybe you should try a flyscreen instead. angle the screen till the wind hits you in the chest so your helmet is in clear air. great in the summer.

Over the weekend I fashioned up some longer mounts to push the windscreen further forward as seems to be the case on Serowbots bike in photo above. This took the lower edge right out to the headlight lens
No difference at all
I wonder whether my screen is not curved enough from side to side
my 400mm wide screen is dished 33mm in the middle
It would be interesting to know how this compares with successful screens

Maybe you need to cut a hole or holes in the screen,

I have a Memphis Slim on mine that really helps with doing 75+ on the highway. It keeps the body buffeting off me and allows the air to slide over the top of my helmet. You can't see the angle perfectly from this picture, but I started it with the same angle as the forks, then moved it forward until the distance from my nose was just right for my viewing angle.

Slipstreamer spitfire.

Note: Mine is cut down about 1.5" off the top so my short self can see over the top and the rim isn't in my sight line. Works well and no issues with buffeting in a full face of half helmet.

Stew,... I can see why you needed to cut your screen down...
That curve at the bottom of the shield is supposed to follow the headlight.
You're mounted about a half foot high...
... but,.. whatever works...

Actually I have since reconfigured my mounting and dropped I'd down and out (forward) so it is more inline with the bike. Just didn't have a recent pic. Even with the additional drop, it still works well and looks slightly more 'low profile', and not as wonky 8-)
