Title: Jet dropping out
Post by seve321 on 07/05/18 at 20:31:50

I have 86 Savage and I've had nothing but trouble with my pilot jet backing out and flooding my engine. I've tried a few thing but I'm the end I just bought a newer carb. I got my hands on an 07 carb thinking all my problems and solved but it still happening. I do only city riding doing 45-50 top and not for long. I do last on the throttle kind of hard though and I think that vibration is what backs it out. Has anyone else had this problem before?

Are you seating the jets correctly? I understand 1 carb being stripped out but both?
I did once instal a main jet loose and it fell out but stayed tight after reseating it

Did you transfer jets from the old carb? I f you did ,perhaps the problem is the pilot jet not the carb body.

My issue is with the pilot jet not the main. I did transfer the jet from the old carb but I went through a couple of jets on the old one and they all did it. do you think the threading a new jet in the old carb could have messed up the threads on a new jet?

I don't really know, but it may be possible ,the carb body should be harder metal, than the brass jet . I 'd try a new pilot jet , in the new carb, for what it costs .
