Title: Walk the Talk?
Post by WebsterMark on 06/20/18 at 05:57:26

Which side of the political spectrum lives their personal life closest to their spoken political ideology?

This is a topic because here in St Louis we have an ultra liberal editorial columnist who lives in a very exclusive, virtually all white, suburb 40 miles from downtown yet writes as if he's 'keepin it real' in the hood.

So, which side lives their personal lives nearest to their political views?

Web, asking a dividing question, then bemoaning division, how is that question constructive?

Does finger pointing ever provide solutions?

Mpls MN  City Council gets, $98.695 a year.
The New Mayor  $126,528.00, which HE voted for, Just After he won the election.
PLUS,  The, ‘Per-Diems’, and Mileage.
(Which can add up easily to 1/4 of salary)
Not bad, for a, ‘part-time’  Job.

Now that ‘pay raise’ was NOT, in the Budget.
They just did it. and took the money from other programs.

“…during the past 15 years — the period for which city data are available — the council has never approved a salary increase of this size….”
“…the process, or lack thereof. The raises were not on the pre-meeting agenda, no council committees had considered them, and there was no public comment period or public hearing. They also weren’t included in the city’s recently approved $1.4 billion 2018 budget….”
“…Not to be overlooked in the stealthy Minneapolis resolution is the provision that the mayor and council members also will receive raises in each year of their four-year terms. …”

Overview,  above. Perfect example of  Limousine  Liberals.
Don’t know of any, who live in the, ’troubled’ part of their district.
Don’t know of any, who has housed, ‘refugees’, in their house.
Don’t know of any, who has ‘experienced’, a drive by shooting.
Don’t know of any, who, ‘Volunteers’ in a shelter/homeless/food, etc.

Yet well known for giving  gobs of money, to every ultra-Liberal cause that comes forward.

“…which side lives their personal lives nearest to their political views?  …”

I do not believe the Mpls City Council, are even remotely close.

So, my "ultra-liberal" principals would require that I live in a mixed race neighborhood?...
My neighbor to my left is black,... and to my right is from India...
Is that good enough?...

Do your principals have you living in an exclusive gated white neighborhood?....
Good for you...  ;D

If you think about it,.. this is a question that Right-winger should really avoid asking....
You imply a racist requirement to your own party.... :-/

Looking at the Mpls. City Council,
If they, ‘Fast Tracked’, someone through a schooling, in 1/2 the time it would take someone else.
If they, Paid the Tuition for the Classes.
If they paid that person 20.00 a hour, to take the classes.
Then they protected that person, when he shot a person in Cold Blood.
(And they live in what amounts to a ‘gated’ community)

Even though a different ethnic/race/religion/etc person, could NOT, get the same treatment.
That is NOT  Raciest ?

OK, Mpls Council, and the Henn County Attorney, think the same way.

Lets hear how you live by your political ideology...

I'm not even sure what that means.
I don't think my life is directed by politics,... unless you mean respecting others, which we all should do as human beings.

The implication here is someone's lifestyle is inferior to Sew's lifestyle. Why?

As was said in Fiddler on the Roof; "It's no sin to be poor, but it's no great honor either."

And why does seemingly every response from a lefty revolve around race? Just how broad is that definition of racist? If I live in a mostly white neighborhood, I'm racist but if you don't have a black wife, why can't I label you the same?

Compassion is not always saying yes.

Anyway, this whole thing got started in my mind because we have a local editorial writer here in St Louis who is ultra liberal (surprise surprise) and repeats the typical leftist talking points, but lives in an exclusive, suburb 40 miles from Ferguson and the rest of murder capital USA here in St Louis. Talking the talk, but made sure to raise kids and live in a safe and secure castle.

This is along the same lines as those crying about immigrant children, but would never agree to ease real estate restrictions again mobile homes in their exclusive neighborhoods for example.

So my question was do my outward viewpoints on topics of the day match my personal living habits? Do those on the left live the talk more than, less than or equal to those on the right?

Your question revolved around race.  What kind of answer did you expect?...

Why does it matter how a person "writes"?

I mean if I live in Africa and write like an Asian from San Francisco why would that matter?

Are you implying, with this question, that the information he writes about is inaccurate?  I judge opinion and news reporting on what is written, not who writes it and where he lives, what color are his wife or undies.  That would be an extension of the Ad Homium logical fallacy wouldn't it? :)

Very Simply,  you would be  Lying,  if one lives in a safe Suburb, yet: “… writes as if he’s ‘keeping it real’ in the hood…”

Very different, than a person, living in one area, and writing about another area.

So in his writing he claims to be physically present in the hood?

No. It's the "do as I say not as I do" thing. Which is the topic of this thread.

Maybe both sides are just as guilty. The right is as hypocritical as the left. I don't think so, but that could be because I'm on the right side and can't see the forest for the trees. Or I am correct and the left talks one way, but lives far more dramatically different.

Man if we only read material from people who "do as they say" we probably wouldn't read anything at all.
