Title: Engines out, timing chain swap.

Any input on putting a new timing chain in?
Doing the nitrided chanch, modded adjuster, new bore plug, head gasket.
While the engines on the bench, anything else I should do?

HEAD GASKET?
Why?

Mod the adjuster why? (your replacing the stock chain with a nitrided chain ,you don't need to mod the adjuster)

You should check the cam chain guides for wear. You should anneal the copper washers that go on the head bolts before torqueing the head.

Head gasket looks to be leaking. Oil stains from there on down.

Which could be just from the head plug leak .Inspect the gasket .and the head/cylinder mating surfaces for cuts /warping ,if you don't find any ,it wasn't a head gasket leak.

The number of actual head gasket problems I've seen in the fifteen years I've been here I can count on one hand, and I'm missing fingers.

Recommend you clean it up, fix the oil leak, and don't mess with the head gasket.
Funny how it's running okay, and the low pressure oil is leaking, but the high pressure compression and ignition
Aren't,,

Ok. However I've never had it running...

How about a run through on replacing the cam chain?

Maybe a detail worth sharing.

Might be good to put compressed air in the cylinder.

Pull the oil fill plug first.

Yeah, that's a maintenance manual thing.

Available online.
Someone will hook you up.

I own a cClymers. It really doesnt cover doing just a chain swap.
Im picturing pulling the head cover and side cover. Pulling the intermediate gear and then what else to access the lower timing gear?
