Title: New rig.....
Post by raydawg on 05/18/18 at 14:22:54

Well I opted for a wee bit smaller one, and no fly....
Has all the whistles and bells, maybe too many, lots of new systems to learn, er, fix  :o

Looks good to me and small enough to trailer with your new truck.  Nice looking boat.

That $400 fuel tank reminds me of the old car joke.

"My car was so junky - that I could double the value of it by filling the gas tank". ;)

That’s funny!  ;D

I wonder if I leave the seat up, forget to flush, if that might have the opposite effect on mine?  :-?

Goodness.....

Lots to learn. I'm not sure I am up to this, gee.
Trying to grasp it all is daunting.
I take boating very serious, like riding my bike.
I want to make sure I cover all the issues to favor a successful outcome.
I would never ride under the influence, or allow another in my company, nor do I let people come on my boat and get drunk, etc, you can't take accidents back.....
With that, lots of systems on this boat that can cause failure, which can compromise safety under certain conditions.
Maybe as I get some more experience and knowledge, I will gain some confidence, but right now, goodness, I am second guessing myself  :-?

Find a forum or person familiar with the equipment and get a check ride.
Being The Guy with the answers is fine, If you're up to speed. You don't want to discover that you didn't know something about the equipment by screwing something up.

Ray,

From pictures boat looks to have been fairly well cared for and maintained. Going bigger is always a little duanting at first but it will come to you fairly quickly. Docking and manuvering in tight quarters in marinas is the first thing to grasp, from there it's all pretty much the same. it's always good to do your own work and learn as much as you can. When you break down on the water you need to be able to try and get yourself home.

All that said, after a few shack down runs you will get a feel for it and get comfortable in driving and handling. Don't get to excited when around the dock and try not to yell too much.

This step opens a whole new world of boating advetures and even allows you to spend more time on it and do some serious cruising. Plus if you keep it in a slip it's another place to ride the bike to, the marina.

Good luck with it.
