I've been sayin' to my buddy for 6 months,... "This bike sounds louder than it used to... Does it sound louder to you?"...
..and I kept thinking it was just that I was riding 3 different bikes and the S50 is super quiet,... so it's just my imagination.
Well,.. it wasn't.
I had looked down the backend with a flashlight, and it looked just fine, but today I took it off... and low and behold, it's just shrapnel rattling around inside from the front.
So,... put on at 25k miles,... and it's toast at 40k.
First one I put on at 4k miles and it blew out the center baffle plate at 25k... (that was a lot easier to notice because it happened in an instant)

The new Harley muff is sooooooooo quiet...
I feel civilized.

I had previously modded the muffler bracket to fit a tab mount Harley shorty,... this time it was a rail mount, so I modded it some more
It gets smaller very time... (you can't grind metal back on)...
Now, it's pretty much just the tube goin' back with a bolt hole drilled in it. The bracket part is gone.
I think it should still hold okay, 'cause the Harley is a lot smaller and lighter than stock.

Soooooooooo quiet!... I can Harley hear it runnin'... ;D

I'm confused. Was the muffler that failed a Harley muffler or the stock muffler or some other sort of muffler?

I just installed a Harley muffler on mine too. I don't think it's any louder than stock, but it sure sounds better. My wife listened to it and said I want one on mine too.
