Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by old.indian on 02/28/18 at 09:51:12 H.... S... !!!!!! :o As an FYI the front end of my S40 became much more stable after I installed the TKat fork brace..... |
Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by ohiomoto on 02/28/18 at 09:57:17 Saw that earlier today. He says he didn't wheelie, but he probably dropped the front end down hard from a highspeed wheelie. But thank god he was okay. Incredibly unlucky and lucky at the same time. |
Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by Gary_in_NJ on 02/28/18 at 10:05:46 The rider was traveling 90 mph and doing wheelies seconds prior to the video clip. He is a known stunt rider and is know to take chances on public roads - putting not only his life in dander, but everyone around him. |
Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by engineer on 02/28/18 at 10:23:58 That guy is lucky, maybe he'll quit doing high speed wheelies now. High speed wobbles are something I think about every time I do something to change the geometry of a bike. My S40 has Intruder shocks and a taller than stock tire in the back which has changed the rake angle and quickened the steering which I like. So far it has shown no inclination to wobble, maybe it doesn't go fast enough. Since 1960 I've ridden a lot of different bikes and I've never experienced a high speed wobble (knock on wood). My Guzzi did a low speed wobble once when I was slowing for an intersection but it only did it that one time, don't know why. |
Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by Gary_in_NJ on 02/28/18 at 10:40:55 Ain't no chance of an S40 getting into a tank slapper like that. It's rake, trail and log wheel base make it inherently stable...even with the tallest tire you can get back there. |

Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/28/18 at 11:18:10 Maybe he's been taking meds that can cause constipation or diarrhea? First instinct Fight the front end. Not the best answer. IIRC, Twist of the Wrist says Soften the arms and unload the front tire some. Tightening up transmits wobble through the whole bike. The savage, even with a brace, will give an unnerving head shake in a long sweeper. I think it's from the suspension changing the geometry because of the slight changes in the road. The rear end goes up and down, and the front needs to change a little, and it will, and you better let it. This guy, no telling what bit him. He's not passing them so fast but can't see the speed. That wall, and the truck, Turbulence? The minute prior to the start of the wobble would possibly help. |

Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by Serowbot on 02/28/18 at 13:19:35 I guess the clue is, he starts the video at his second gear shift... It was obviously shooting video before that, but he don't want to show that bit. That was the stupid behaviour bit... Speedo is blurred out too... |
Title: Re: Speed wobble and down... Post by batman on 02/28/18 at 14:30:08 He said he had is weight sifted to far back ,and just shifted to 2nd gear ,(@ 45 ?,that's sound like a wheelie to me! ) Yes, Idiot! |
