Title: Well Poohey! I'm a FSO again. Post by SALB on 01/06/18 at 12:50:50 Going to the Folks house New Years Eve, I blew the head gasket on my old plymouth. When the shop pulled the head, they found that it was cracked. >:( At this point, the cost of repairs would have been double the value of the car, so I decided to trade in the bike as a down payment on a newer car. As of last night, I'm the proud owner of a 2013 Fiat 500, but have no bike. :-[ I guess that rules the Yellowstone trip out this summer. :( |

----------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry Justin, but the laundry list of other little things on this thing that are in need of repair is a mile long. I had been using it as a beater to drive in the snow and run groceries, but the cracked head is the final nail in the coffin. After all, what's a 92 K-car worth? ::) |

--------------------------------------------------------------- I like your buddies convertible, mines just the base model. They are fun little cars, almost like driving a go cart. I'm suprised at how many of my friends and family have mentioned that they're glad I got rid of the bike and that they had been worried about me riding with all the other idiot drivers out there. I'm thinking I might get an old klr650 or like bike to tool around in the mountains and maybe do some camping locally. |

I'm loosing the Sportster , soon as warm weather gets here and prices go up a little . 2007 with around 30K miles , saddle bags and luggage rack/back rest . Super-Slab gear already installed . How do ya think it should sell for ? |
Title: Re: Well Poohey! I'm a FSO again. Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/09/18 at 19:59:30 K car? Sorry, you said Plymouth.. My minds eye would Never see a K car. I envisioned something older and sexy.. Bury it, don't mourn. |
Title: Re: Well Poohey! I'm a FSO again. Post by JLC on 01/09/18 at 20:07:31 I assume it's a 883? I have a 2007 Sportster 883L. Blue book value in excellent condition (bike sold by a dealer) was around $4000 in August 2017, but the local dealer told me it was only worth $2300 as trade in. That was for a stock bike in excellent condition with under 1200 miles on the clock. Only modifications are Daymaker headlight, HD tachometer added, and crash bars. I would advertise it for $3500. I know the Sportster engine is long lived, but the mileage may not help sell the bike. To get a better informed answer, you could join the HD forum and see what kind of responses you get there. |
Title: Re: Well Poohey! I'm a FSO again. Post by SALB on 02/05/18 at 14:44:13 Well, after a month with the little Fiat, I can say I'm happy with the car. The only real complaint I have is the insanely low geared 1st, necessary because of the small displacement. On the other hand, thats why I'm averaging about 35MPG. I also learned that their "Twin Air" design has nothing to do with a variable length intake manifold, like I had assumed. http://articles.sae.org/8703/ |
