Title: I like it........
Post by raydawg on 12/17/17 at 15:46:23

http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/17/real_estate/tax-bill-mortgage-property-tax-deductions/index.html

You can read the link or not.....

I think we need to stabilize home prices, if this is a start to stopping the pyramid scheme of trading up at the cost of removing the American Dream of home ownership, then I say great.
Those numbers by the effected need to stop whining and think of the bigger picture instead of just their wealth.

Anybody want to explain why I am wrong?

How much would that itemized line save you?
The basic deduction was doubled.
The way home loans amortize is Frikken criminal. It's almost all interest in the first years. New loans are sure gonna hurt..
Thirty year?

I as well would be interested in the difference between the doubled standard deduction and the home equity/interest write-off.

None of this applies to me anymore so I don't really know what the impact is.

A proper analysis would be a big spreadsheet.

The income.
The amount of the mortgage.
Interest rate
Age of the loan/ amortization schedule.
An accountant might want more.

Absolutely.....
What kind of loan is it, rates, points, etc.
Payoff date, credit worthiness, all sorts of elements to consider.
Its more fun to just beetch, however  ;D

Be grateful you can get a 200M loan and profit from it in the long run, maybe that is where your focus might bring you some joy.
