Title: Fired right up.....
Post by raydawg on 10/22/17 at 21:19:37

Well if you recall, I got transferred at work to a different location earlier this year.
It was too far to ride my bike, over 100 miles a day, mostly on the freeway.
I didn't feel comfortable doing that.
So I parked her, was thinking of selling her, but didn't.
Glad I didn't, looks like I am coming back to my old spot, an easy hop on the bike.
I went and put the key in her today, she has been dormant for a few months.
Put her in neutral, choke, hit the starter button...BAM, lit right up!
Sounded like she was never mothballed.

One more time, HURRAY.....
But retirement is looming, soon. I think I will give it one more summer, then hang it for good.

Looking for a diesel right now to tow with.
Sold my F-150 yesterday to the first person who saw it.
Double the price for what they offered as a trade in.
I get the fact they are a business, but that does not give them the right to assume my butt is a bullseye  :-*

Looking at used 5th wheels too.

I think I might be more busy in retirement  ;D

Planning our trip to Italy as well.
That will be paid for by my wifes business  ;)

Ray

You do realize , You don't have to have a truck to do your towing ?    ::)

I wouldn't suggest a 1800cc car ,   But   ,  there are a whole bunch of capable  V-6 cars out there that get GREAT Fuel Millage and have plenty of power to pull a bike trailer just fine , even bigger trailers if ya look at the V-8 cars and SUV's .

That brings up the point ... So , Why do " cars / vs / trucks " with the same size engine get different fuel millage ?

:-?

Cars are somewhat slippery to the air......trucks are boxy, lumpy and hard to move through the air.

Trucks also tend to have lower (numerically higher) gearing. ;)

Well I bailed on the diesel, too much upkeep, etc.
The diesel of old is not the diesel of today.
Emissions restrictions have pert near killed this engine option.

Funny, you have to break the law, to be able to "protect" your investment.....golly.

Don't want an argument, so I will just leave it there.

I bought a F-250 with the Boss motor.
Not perfect, but overall, the right fit I believe in what I want it to do.

16 plugs, in 8 cylinders....

Think I will drill and tap another hole in the jug of the savage, then just splice on another wire from the existing plug run....

Whaddaya think?  :o

We owned a Jetta diesel for 10 years and 272,000 miles.  It made sense when we bought it, as diesel fuel was a lot cheaper than gas....and the mpg on the diesel car was nearly twice what the gas version got.

After owning a diesel that long - we won't buy another diesel car/truck.  The fuel prices have gone up and diesel is now more expensive, the maintenance costs were much higher, and the gas cars get a lot better mileage than they use to.

I suppose if you are a commercial hauler and carry big loads - the diesel is the way to go.  I don't believe it is for most of us who mostly use our cars to commute.

The only part of the diesel car I miss is the ability to go 600 miles on a full tank!
