I have clocked the difference and the ryca speedometer from on a stock Suzuki savage reads 7mph faster than what you are actually going.

Does your calculation take into consideration that the tire sizes are different? I've tested the RYCA speedo and have found it to read 10% too low, i.e. when it shows 60, I'm actually going 66mph.

Savageguy1 probably has as stock bike and a stock rear wheel/tire......Gary_in_NJ probably has a Cafe' conversion and an 18" rear wheel.

The stock 140/80-15 rear tire doesn't even allow the stock speedo to read correctly! A 140/90 rear will fix this.

Yep... My stock tired S40 speedo reads 5 mph faster than the real speed, as confirmed by GPS.

Gary, your 18" tire is 8.4 % bigger than a140-90-15 so 60 mph on your speedo would equal 65+ mph on your bike.

Although that may be true for a lot of the Savage bikes - the stock speedometer is mechanical and has a lot of manufacturing tolerance for accuracy.

My 2002 bike had a speedometer that was accurate with the stock 140/80 tire.
