Learn?

Who are you kidding.  That's exactly how you and MM currently ride through the Dragon!

Marquez' shoulder, not elbow, kisses the asphalt in corners during Moto GP races! I'd like to learn that!  8-)

I couldn't afford the tires....or the injuries....at any age. I've broken bones racing, it sucks.

Yes it does, it hurts a LOT, even if not racing.

To learn sliding/drifting techniques you start in the dirt then move to pavement , Americas best road racers paid their dues flat tracking. But Dave I think your ship has already sailed , possibly sank by now   ;D
Continue to hone your current skills and always ride within your comfort level. As we age heeling from a crash takes twice the time , I have a pain for each and every crash. I used to have a flat track practice bike a Honda 175 twin , totally stripped engine, tank, seat gutted front brakes and worn out Dunlop k70s and crappy stock suspension, barely enough power to get it to slide. That bike taught me so much about sliding & riding a ill handling bike , I wish i still had it , the local PD hated me and that Honda , they never did catch me. Ride Safe !!!

^ What he said!

I met a biker at work a while ago. He was pushing 70. Had been a biker his whole life. He recently  lost control on a dirt road and smashed his leg against a tree. The prognosis wasn't good. He had a leg brace. I bumped into him a couple of times around town. Once, at the post office he was checking out x-rays of his leg. I asked how he was doing. "It's not healing. They reckon it's my age". The sadness in his eyes was heartbreaking.

It's probably a bit late for us baby boomers, but future generations may be able to grow youthful bits from stem cells. Then again, they may not motorcycle.
