Title: CLUTCH CABLES? longer cables for apes or pullback?
Post by brianb on 08/21/17 at 15:43:47

HEY, first post!

Great website glad to be a member, but having A LOT of trouble.

I purchased some 13 in. pullbacks to swap out the stock drag bars on my 2013 boulevard, unfortunately nothing is long enough.

Ive looked around and LANCER seems to be the man to order these from but I CANNOT message him or anyone without at least 10 posts. Can anyone help?! Im not very mechanic savvy so anything helps.

I need 12in+ on the clutch cable
I need 12in+ for my front brake line
and 6in+ for the wiring

Have you mounted the new bars, with the tank off', and measured where each cable goes from end to end, and made the measurement to within 1/2" ?
When doing so you want to use a cord or wire so you can lay it on the bike and follow the route you want to go with the real cable, from the bar mount control to the brake/clutch/carb.  After marking the cord/wire take it off the bike and stretch it out straight on a flat surface and measure the distance to within 1/2".  That is the measurement I would need to order the custom cable/line for you.
The set of 3, throttle/clutch/brake will run between $150-200 depending on length & type of sheath cover (black vinyl, stainless braid, black stealth, etc.)

Just because a string lays in a spot doesn't mean a cable will.
Leave the old one and work it out from there. Don't hurry.

Nobody has a plug in wiring harness stretcher. If you're not up for the job, now is a g good time to hit the brakes until you can develop the skills.

Did not say a string.
By a cord, I mean an old electrical type cord with the ends cut off.  It is flexible enough to easily bend as desired and has enough body to hold its position.
