Title: Solenoid relay
Post by Prop76 on 07/30/17 at 09:55:50

Yesterday I took the bike apart to fix the dreaded plug leak. I have the 1999 ls650. Now after reconnecting everything it seems the solenoid is not keeping tension. I tighten the cable go to start it and it's loose again. It seems the spring is not doing its job however I may have it installed wrong. Any directions for putting solenoid cable and spring back together?

When the adjustment is way out of whack like that, there's no chance of the solenoid working.
The spring is for returning the lever to the free position and lever should be all the way down.

It started out down but has slowly worked it's way up. Every time I try starting it the spring does not push it back down. I think the spring is in wrong but I don't know for sure.

You didn't need to pull this cam to remove the cover.
But you see that it's not operating correctly, so why don't you pull it out and try the other position.
Seems kinda silly that they put that rib in there for noting... right?

I got it. Pulled the spring off it never was aligned properly so there was nothing to keep tension against it
