Title: decompression solenoid not working
Post by Super Thumper on 07/18/17 at 13:43:25

Was working fine when the bike was parked after the last ride about three weeks ago.

Put in a new battery & known good decomp solenoid/controller from a running bike.

NO movement from the solenoid when the start button is pressed.

Direct connect from the battery to the solenoid and it works fine.

Voltage from the decomp controller to the solenoid reads 1.0V

Any ideas?

wiring between the controller and the solenoid?bad connector (same wires)? Voltage to the solenoid should be 12v. ,does the solenoid have a good ground?you should be able to test the solenoid with an ohm meter.

Does the starter still spin?

Check the fuses ! ? And check connections at battery.

Thanks for the replies.......all above suggestions check out OK except very low voltage from the connector on the wiring harness that connects to the decompression solenoid.

All worked fine about 4 weeks ago when it was parked in the garage.

Inspect the wires that feed the connector.
Trace them to the source.
Check voltage there.
