Any, for-profit business has the goal of more profit...
That’s the problem...
That extra income from insured people should go to reduce charges,.. not to line the pockets of stockholders.
NHS for all...
Cars and TV's should be sold for profit, not treatment of the sick...

What drives investments in new technologies?

Don't get me wrong, the "church" gets tax exemptions because of the good they do ::)
I see how the government tries to ultilize resources with sanctioning worthy causes...
I get that, but it quickly becomes another thorn in our side.
Hospitals are to provide a necessary service.
But without some oversight, it runs away as well.

Maybe if our education system got back to teaching basic needs and sciences without the social engineering, etc. we could adavance all as a whole.

Many, many medical innovations come from England, France, Germany, etc... where costs are much more managed.. where companies don't up the price of a pill from $2 to $750...
