Title: Holiday weekend ADV ride + camping
Post by philthymike on 06/01/17 at 09:42:08

I hope you all had an enjoyable and safe holiday.
While mine wasn't so safe it was very enjoyable if I choose to ignore the rain and the leaking tent.
I went camping and ADV riding out in the mountains of central PA.
I know this isn't a forum for ADV riders but I have to tell you about the mountain roads in this part of my state. They freaking rock! Twisties, hairpins, extremely steep hills and, wait for it - almost NO TRAFFIC!
The paved roads were an absolute blast. But the unpaved ones were a whole different kind of blast. a dirty one  :P

Anyway's I posted in another forum about the adventure if anybody cares to read about it.

I'm making the same trip again in August too. Anybody interested in joining is welcome but I won't be riding Thumpy. It'll be the Duck again so I can explore even more grisly mountain terrain.

I rediscovered an old thrill on my adventure - hillclimbs!
I cannot even begin to explain how big a confidence booster it is to conquer some big ugly grisly hill on a bike!

Here's a bit of illustration....
I lost a stabilizer for my windscreen on the way up. I found it again later though.

ADV = Another Deathdefying Venture?

If your mama knew what foolish chances you're taking she'd beat you bad enough to be admitted and claim she did it cuz she Luuuvs Yew..
You had to ride Back through that?
I hope you're planning on a Go Pro.

I'll probably do the go pro thing in August when I make the trip again.
Riding through it wasn't so bad. With knobby tires on it the Duck made for a decent dirt bike with the exception of low ground clearance. I'm getting her a skid plate for the next trip.
My mother used to like me out riding my dirt bike or 3 wheeler as a kid. It kept me out of trouble.
