Hello all,
I tried the search bar but poor esults.
Are there any recommended oil brand, specs, or viscosity especially of motor oil?

Shell Rotella T is the mineral oil version of the forum recommended oil. Don't be afraid that is is a 15W-40 oil and can be used in diesel engines. It has enough ZDDP to keep your cam and rocker in good shape, it is safe for use with wet clutches, and it is very easy to find at any auto store, big box store, truck stop, Tractor Supply, etc. It is also very affordable.

The same can be said for the synthetic Rotella T-6 which is a 5W-40 oil.

You can spend more money for oils - but the Savage engine doesn't need a more expensive oil.

100% agreed on Shell Rotella. We use T6 in all our bikes and it holds up well with zero clutch issues.

That being said, the EPA is forcing removal of zinc and other friction-reducing components that are very important to our valvetrain.

There was one fella who ran a gazillion miles on Shell Rotella!

I suspect it must be pretty good for our engines.

Just to be stubborn, I'm using mineral Motul 3000 10w40 - No extra ZDDP booster needed. Never tried Rotella, but I can say that I am much more impressed with the Motul over to the Suzuki 10w40 (boosted with ZDDP additive) that I was using. When my commuting speeds start averaging 70-75mph, or faster sometimes, I would need to add oil to keep crankcase full - Now that I've started using Motul, I haven't added a drop of oil since the last service.
