Title: A great tool for removing carb screws
Post by IslandRoad on 04/11/17 at 14:27:28

A friend asked for a hand to get the screws off his carb cap and float bowl. We tried everything we could think of without success. I was talking to my boss about it and he said "These will do it". I was sceptical, but they are amazing. Got 'em all with one twist.

Grab them from the top. Get a good grip, and then a swift turn to the left. I love that little crack sound when they free up [ch9786]

Does the pliers have a name and manufacturer?

That crack that you hear is the clear sealer on the under side of the screw head breaking loose.

All I have is the info printed on the pliers in the top image. Oh, and I think he mentioned buying them through the distributer, Wurth.

I'm gonna look for them online later. I'll post a link if I find 'em.

Road,

I found the Warren & Brown web site, but I don't think purchasing the pliers in the USA is going to be very easy.

Well, if I find 'em here, I can always help out a brother, or sister, if anyone wants 'em  :)

Road,

I am a tool fanatic, :-/ with a champagne taste and a beer pocketbook. I would love to have one, but I am doubtful that I can afford it with shipping and all.

Verslagen,

Thanks for digging that tool out of eBay. I had looked for it on eBay, but I didn't get anywhere. This is a tool I would like to have, but it is doubtful that I will ever really need it.

The crack that IslandRoad mentioned is why I use a soldering iron on Mikuni carburetor screws. I have found jets on Mikunis that had the sealer on them also.

I'll refrain from typing the first response that comes to mind, out of a sense of decency  8-)

... but yeah, I reckon they've seen a bit of action  :)

Cheers mate, just ordered mine too  :)

My boss told me they cost him $50 bucks here in Aus. Even with the conversion rate from USA to AUS it's a bargain on ebay, especially with no hurry on shipping!

My mate might be sorry I brought the pliers around to his place. He couldn't work out why his bike wouldn't start after he left it sitting for over a year.

This is what we found when we opened up the carb!!

I'm still a noob, but even I was able to stand back and say "We'll there's your problem right there!"

I WAS gonna buy some, but I've accidentally pinched blood blisters on fingers with pliers. I don't think I Want anything to do with anything called
Vampliers.
Hmmm,, maybe it'll suck the blood out, too...
Heck, gotta think about it again..

$18.03 here, black handles & a little less fancy looking.   No side cutter built into the jaw.
Same company though so I suspect the screw head gripper part is the same.   Free shipping.

I bought a set using the eBay link....they are coming from Japan.  The seller ships on Mondays, the emails they have sent have been digital "engrish".

I believe they will get here eventually.

Haha, I got the same email. Also resigned myself to ... "eventually".  :)

ISN'T it Amazing? Japan imports raw material, refines, smelt, whatever it takes, whoop up a tool, ship, send inland to distribution centers, someone has to ship it, and That's what it costs.

Gawdstrewth  does that Amazon use crap exchange rates, OF's $18 ones are $40NZ by the time it gets here, and that's the slow boat.

My new tool arrived today......it was about a month being shipped.

The seller included and extra "gift" - I have no idea what it is.  It could be a tea bag inside.....or a "wet nap" or towelette....not sure?

Just ordered a pair of pz-58's on Amazon for 17.43.  Was tempted to get the PZ-57's, too.  The 59's are the big ones; "Neji-saurus"!

Well, 'eventually' finally arrived. Product is as described - and just a couple of days late ... I was starting to wonder if they would ever get here  :)
