Title: old_rider .. is riding in a new place.
Post by youzguyz on 04/05/17 at 08:26:09

Posted with David's permission:
I removed the last name to protect the family's privacy.

=======================
Hello everyone, this is David, Bill's son.
It is with a heavy heart that I bring this news. This morning, at 1:55am, we lost a loving husband, a fantastic Father, and an amazing friend. I lack the words to describe what a wonderful person my Father was, and the impact he had on not only my life, but his Wife Diana and so many others. I will keep him in my thoughts, and in my heart, and it is my hope that he will remain in the hearts and minds of everyone else that he touched over the years. You will be greatly missed Bill. Thank you, and may you rest in peace.

I am shocked!  I had no idea that his diagnosis with his balance problems was potentially fatal.

He will be sorely missed........

I'm sorry and saddened to hear that news. I've been hoping for the best ever since old-rider first posted about his diagnoses.

Thank you David for letting us know. My condolences and best wishes for you and your entire family.

Thoughts and prayers for the family.

Never met him, but always appreciated his great advice here on the forum.

If anyone is coordinating sending something for the services (personally or from the group here) I'd be happy to chip in.

I am very saddened. David, please accept my condolences. I first met Bill in Columbus, Texas where Bill, Art, MM and I met up to ride to Kerville where we had a great time riding the hill country and the 3 twisted sisters for a few days. I latter met up with Bill when he joined the group at the tail of the dragon for one day just so he could ride with us all. I cannot impress upon you how hard this news has hit me considering how little time I spent with Bill. I really liked Bill and had hoped to ride with him more often. Bill, you will be missed. May God have you in his Glory. As Versy said. til we ride together again my friend.

David,

Your father was a joyful rider and he did like a joke or two at camp and he laughed a lot.

I am most reminded how much love was shared between your dad and your mom on the last trip they took together to Simple Life with the group.

We are not promised endless time together, so it is good that we seize what time we do have and use it to the fullest.   Your dad certainly did.

There isn't enough words to say how much he will be missed by the list and the riding group.

I will miss him ....  he was a good companion and a good loving husband.

What a downer.......
Prayers to all who knew him with this void now in their lives.

Yes, indeed, Old-Rider will be missed.  We first met a few years ago when he came to the Blue Ridge Motorcycle campground to ride with some of us on the Black Line roads.  We were roomies that week  and I found him to be a kind, considerate and thoughtful man.
I trust he is with Jesus now, and has a completely new ride built just for him.
Until we meet and ride together again Bill.
God Bless you my friend.

I am very sorry to hear of old_rider's passing.  Like many here I only knew him through his posts but I always enjoyed reading what he had to say.  The forum suddenly seems a little empty without him being here.

Would it be inappropriate for us (e.g. moderators) to consider adding an "In Memoriam" thread or section to the forum?  Maybe something simple with a picture (if available and respectable) of the member along with whatever brief information we knew about them?

These losses are terribly sad and create a hole in our Savage "family" but we often get sucked back into our lives and lose sight of those we have lost. I think it is good to have a place that makes it easy for us to remember them.

We have lost many.. and I would like a place set aside to remember them.
Ones I can remember.  Max Morely, SKat, whoever it was with the huge headlight (see what I mean?)

Now I remember.  It was smokey02 with the huge headlight.

I will be sending information from Bills son (David) as I get it as far as funeral arrangements and such.
Until David signs up as a member (which he intends to do at some point), I will be his "go between".. as it were.

He does have the link to this thread and has been reading it.

I was hoping to see a memorial sticky thread, I thought that was fine suggestion.  Please consider doing so.

Best regards,

Yes I was hoping for the same , I guess we were blowing hot air on deaf ears ! It's human nature to fear being forgotten. The powers to be obviously don't agree !

I have not heard anything new from Bill's son at this time.

I will attempt to create a memorial thread, and see how it goes.  If it doesn't work or look to be a "positive" addition.....it may go away.

I don't want to junk up "old_riders" thread with the details....go here:

Hutch Hutchinson, pioneered the swap from pulleys to sprockets.
Paladin had a cool comfy looking seat and a light that would have been at home on a 1/3rd scale locomotive.
A 250 would Do, but the 650 makes it Fun.

Palidan signed onto the forum a month ago......he evidently isn't ready to be posted on a memorial page. ;)

Here is some info from David.  Posted with permission:
"
Hello again everyone, David here. I wanted to leave a short update for you all.
Please, before you continue reading, keep my family's feelings in mind and know that we are not trying to offend anyone. That said, I leave the following.
We have decided to not hold a service for my father. We have already gone through with his creamation, and are now in possession of his ashes. HOWEVER, we do plan to hold a Celebration of Life here at our home at a future date, but due to dealing with settling all of Bill's affairs, and then Diana Mcgraw's and my own, it will be a little while before this event will take place.
Please be patient, and know that I will keep you all posted. Thank you, everyone for your love and support in this trying time. It means a lot to see how many of you care.
"
My response:
I am sure everyone understands that you are doing what needs done. You need to take care of things. We all appreciate you taking the time to keep us informed. This is not an easy time.

Thanks guys.

Just passing on what I see, and asking to do so before I do.
These are difficult and private times.   It is hard to try and figure what to do.  Everyone grieves in their own way, and I don't know this family.
