Title: Does it matter......
Post by raydawg on 04/03/17 at 15:16:31

Love to hear some thoughts about where all the matter that makes up the known universe originated.....

When I sit in my hot tub waaaay before day break, on work days, with clear skies, no lights really for 20 miles, it is amazing....

Any thoughts  :)

Well there are actually only two primary worldviews......It was caused by intelligence, this would be the creationist theory.....and it just happened, the big bang theory, with no intelligence behind it.

Orrr,
That Intelligence could have caused the big bang.

IMHO - we'll never know.  There will only be speculation and theory.

What does it matter (no pun intended)?  We could live in a multiverse, this could be just a simulation, there might not actually be a universe, this could all just be information and not substance, this all might be in my head... or your head....

All the more reason to not count on taking anything with you.  Anything tangible is just "stuff".  It's not what's important.  Love, understanding, care, faith - that's what's important.

People need to take more time like you do in the morning and contemplate that.  All the stuff that happens in our insignificant lives is laughable and at the same time important.

So:

"Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice..."

Well I certainly am one whom thinks TRUTH really matters. Why are we here, what is the purpose of life, is there an afterlife, where did we come from. Man has been searching for the answers to these questions forever. In our Post-modern, relative society I understand that truth is ignored and even misrepresented. The problem is Humans CAN NOT actually live in an environment where there is NO truth.

Why do you get on these post and fight so desperately for something that you think is only relative and does not matter?

You say that Love, understanding, care and faith are important, I agree, but have you ever stopped to ask yourself WHY is it important? What is I don't want to be loving or caring or anything like that? Are there consequences?  And if there are then who gets to set those consequences?

The problem with our society is that we have Killed Truth.

You guys are taking it too deep.
The question was, where did the matter come from.
I get it stuff reacts, and creates new stuff, when they experience each other, but that sky is massively black, as in void, yet, there is matter my eyes don't see.
How can we get something for nothing????
Almost sounds like a political campaign promise  ;D

But Raydawg, I love this kind of philosophical questioning. I have been studying it for years. Your question, while simple, is paramount to all truth and understanding in the way it is answered. Please forgive me, I can't help it. I call it philosophical disease.  ::)

Well, maybe there was always this amount of matter - now there's just more space between the atoms....?

NDT has some pretty cool things to say about this too (it's focused on elements, but still...)

I only use my hot tub late at night. I never considered a morning soak.

Then there's this new stuff called anti-matter.
You can't see it, it's there and if it contacts matter... big badda boom.

It is really something when you see the night sky say while out in the desert.  You can't count the stars,  you'd die of old age before you got them all (and those you see are only part of the total).  Then add all the planets, debris fields etc.  It would be like counting the grains of sand at an endless beach, and thankfully there are enough cuties in tiny bikinis to keep me from grains of sand counting. ;D

Perhaps it was always there, just shifting around like one big cylinder.

Shifting from where?

A pre work soak works great...
I pray, meditate, and enjoy the hustle before it starts  ;D

our universe is just a speck of dust on some ones lapel
sooner or later off to the cleaners!!!

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at 900 miles an hour.
It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned,
The sun that is the source of all our power.
Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars;
It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side;
It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick,
But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide.
We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point,
We go 'round every two hundred million years;
And our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
In all of the directions it can whiz;
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!
