Title: Spring seat.
Post by Dagillespi on 03/22/17 at 16:35:13

I just wanted to post this for anyone looking to do a spring seat and worried about the install. I picked this seat up off ebay for 46 with free shipping I'm not sure the barrel springs would fit but I'm a fan of the hairpins anyway. So for the install all I did was use an old trust BFH to bend down the original seat mounts ever so slightly to mount the springs, then I drilled a hole in the original metal clip that held the factory seat for the front mount. I was worried I'd have to lose the fender supports to fit the seat but even at 205 and jumping on the seat it's not bottoming out. I kept the stock fender and did some trimming after the side mount license plate. It's for sure not finished so I just sprayed it to keep the rust off till warmer weather. Also I've got the shocks on so I could reach the fender bolts to paint but have now switched back to the solid struts. Hope this helps anyone on the fence. Also no long rides on this seat yet but as far as I can tell way more comfortable than stock.

It sits about an inch lower with the struts on and this is where I mounted the rectifier. Figured I'd replace the heat sink with a newly discovered highly advanced technology I like to call open air. And yes that is a belt......... from goodwill actually.
