Title: Hardtail sissybar
Post by Dagillespi on 03/12/17 at 12:46:50

Ok so I've chopped the fender installed struts spring seat on the way. Next I'll be ordering a tc bros tall sissybar diy kit. Question is I don't think I'll have room to install anything on the axle to secure it to there is just no room so my question is this do you guys think it'll compromise my swingarm if I drill a small hole in the solid piece there to run a bolt through? Any other ideas always welcome thanks for any help.

I think it's drill a hole (shouldn't weaken if drilled in the flat part of the plate ,centered)or buy a longer axel bolt with the same diameter.

Thank you I didn't even think of longer axle bolt. Drilling will most likely be the way I'll go thanks for the reassurance.

I mounted my sissybar to the strut mounts via an over sized washer and a small chunk of pipe, I'm guessing you have access to a welder?

I do and I like the way yours is set up. I thought about doing the same set up but was worried about excess stress on that bolt while riding 2 up. Being a hardtail I figured there would be a lot of stress on the bolt if it was carrying my seat along with the fender while the wife is riding.

I would only recommend this solution for a solo seat configuration. If you want to keep the passenger seat I would suggest going with the axle plate mounts.
